I have been lucky enough to reboot the system at length and make a
backup. Oh, what a joy! I am now building a backup system or two that I
will be using as I figure out the issues in the current system. The
extremely slow system performance issue seems to be gone now. The disk
capacity was something I had thought about, but didn't seem to be an
issue. I have lightened the disks a bit and things are running well for
now. Will post when I figure out more...thanks to all for the advice!
