If all you want are file and web services, any of the 
distributions will do. But be sure to choose one based
on how you plan to handle security updates.

Since you state that you are very new to Linux, you should seriously
consider Red Hat's academic licensing because you are already familiar
with Red Hat and the security updates are provided in a very easy fashion.

With Fedora, even though some do perform live updates vi apt/yum
successfully, it is not supported. But if you are OK upgrading to the
lastest and greated every 6 months, go for it.

All the distributions suck in their own special way.
