Dan,

I want very much for our fledgling movement to stay very positive and make a
noble impact. A mailing list is hardly the audience to denigrate our
objectives because of issues you have with a single individual. I find it
very hard to believe that our State's DOE has advised you to have nothing to
do with the hundreds of members on this mailing list because of one person.
Regarding the first quoted sentence above, I assure you that I know of no one
who "would like this information so that they can request support or try and
undermine what I have worked so hard to do over the last eight months."

I know that there are dozens of people willing to help the Opensource
movement in Hawaii. I am sure that they would be happy to help you without
undermining you. I offered you hardware and support back in November of last
year. The thing that neither I or the other list members know anything about
is your organization so that we could help.

Must it exist in secrecy? To be honest with you, Dan, it sounds somewhat
pretentious and a little insincere when you discuss all of your great efforts
without any reference to your organization. I know more about your physical
condition after you got hit by a car than I do about what I can do to help
you to advance our shared objectives.

I have deliberately tried to make my efforts to form HOSEF as open and public
as humanly possible. Perhaps to the chagrin of the list members, I have
nearly spammed us with updates, status, and opportunities to be involved. It
is my intention for HOSEF to exist independent of the effects of any one
individual. This requires openness. I intend for it to be an institution in
Hawaii for decades to come.

If you wish to continue to inform the list of your inititiatives, it would be
fair and appropriate if you let us know who your organization is, how we can
help, or where we can send money. The more you claim secrecy because of one
of LUAU's members, the less credibility you will garner from the esteemed
members of LUAU. I promise you that there are people who want to help you.

aloha
