[luau] GIS people out there?

Is there anyone out there knowledgable in GIS usage and programming,
especially regarding the GRASS open source library?  My friend at the
University of Hawaii is trying to render data onto maps using data collected
from many remote sensoring pods with the GRASS library, but she is stuck and
in need of guidance.
