My email addressed the /etc/xinetd.d/ directory.

A default /etc/xinetd.conf has "includedir /etc/xinetd.d/".

There are tools such as /sbin/chkconfig to configure xinetd, but in the previous
enail I was taking the brute force method.

If you do a "/sbin/chkconfig --list" , the xinetd based services will be listed
as well the status of each (on or off).
