Default for which operating system/distribution?  The "default" configuration for xinetd is itox'ing inetd. :)

Again, you should qualify your statements a bit.  /sbin/chkconfig is a distribution specific tool.  If I do "/sbin/chkconfig --list" I get "No such file or directory".
