Even if it was quick and dirty, understanding the process helps in the

Yes, but we're still using RR with Linux.  Of course, this was not the
point. The point was bootstrapping.  A How-To for Internet connectivity is
a catch 22.

When I ordered RR, I was given the option of buying the full package, or
just the modem and cable installation.  I.e. no OS support.  I told
Oceanic upfront that I was using Linux, and they are not responsible for
getting my computer up and running.

When I started out, it would have been less stressful if I had a Debian
package which does all of the configuration for me.  I.e. make sure dhcpd
was installed, make sure the kernel supports networking, make sure the
network adapter is working, etc.  The how-to should be describing how to
install this package.  Editing resolv.conf should be under the
troubleshooting section (note, this is just an example).

Maybe this should be under the LUAU project umbrella.
