You might want to check-out the Hawaiian Charter Schools, which are 
quite varied, and an alternative approach to the traditional DOE 
schools. Na Lei Na'auao is the statewide association of charter 
schools.

...and looking at the google results, it's obvious nobody is paying 
attention to how it appears in the search results, because the top page 
is pretty obsolete, thus confirming the "loose association" of charter 
schools.
