maybe "enable personalization for those who want to do this kind of 
thing, via having them first create an account"?

that is, the ones that are motivated to do this, are allowed to, but 
they first get to create their own account.

That way, you can reboot (re-cycle?) the machines between classes, and 
the world is pristine for the next class,
but the young hackers....  l33t h4X0rs, as it were, can have their 
playground.
