With any community-run project, unless you are an active member of the 
community and know other members well, it is dangerous to assume that 
anything will be done as "hoped".  Remember one of the key elements of 
the GNU/GPL or the BSD license is that it explicitly disclaims any warranty.

The same argument applies to Fedora Core, which is another community-run 
project.  However, with Fedora Core, if you have clients who care about 
warranty and are willing to pay for it, you can alway move to RHEL 
without much effort.  Of course, whether you are working on Debian or 
xBSD, your experience will always be useful.  Just my $0.02.  wayne
