You might want to look at Sistina's GFS as well There is also
OpenGFS, which came about after Sistina closed the source for
GFS.

However, Red Hat acquired Sistina this past December. I speculate
that Red Hat will open GFS back up, and hopefully merge the
strengths of GFS and openGFS.

I would _love_ to play with this stuff, especially on an s390. :)
