Wayne, that's kind of you, and I may ask if I run into some more
*deserving* *poor* folks. But I don't feel completely happy with my
brother's gift (it still feels like HIS computer) and eventually I would
like to build my own Linux box. So giving away his old system where it
would be more loved and used actually seems like a good idea. But gold
star for kindliness!

Thanks to everyone else for the suggestions. I have exported them all into
one file, which I will print out. Then I grapple with the system!
