[luau] How to RHN update w/o root pswd

Greetings,

What is the 'best' way for my users to update RedHat (ver. 9) on their PCs? 
As with RHN, synaptic requires knowing the password for root. Since I'm not 
giving them that, they cannot update. I've heard possibilities are to use 
cron to perform an autoupdate or 'sudo'.
