[luau] Newbies and X Windows

I'm still a newbie to Linux and learning as much as I can.

My question is, does a newbie have to worry about installing or using X 
Windows when they are first starting to use Linux?

Should they learn how to navigate Linux just using the command line before 
they start using X Windows?
