HOSEF, The Hawaii Open Source Education Foundation, is a charitable
non-profit dedicated to promoting Linux in all ways possible. We are
the charitable back end for this mailing list. We are the charitable
back-end for any and all willing participants.

The times that we meet to work on computers are changing. A link to a
web page with this information is provided on the next line

http://www.hosef.org/volunteer.html

At this web page one can read words that state our new weekday time,
Monday, that we meet at our Pricebusters lab to work on computers. More
on that later in this note. For now, know that Monday evenings from 6-9
and Saturdays from 11-2 you are invited to attend these bi-weekly
events. We have computers in the process of being gutted, tested, and
having Linux installed on them. It is a great learning activity for
you, if interested. It is also a great time to meet and rap with fellow
list members for some of that proverbial and apparently valued face
time. These sessions can be as valuable and pleasurable as you make them.

To repeat, so that there is no misunderstanding or obfuscation of the
primary intent of this email, HOSEF's biweekly lab meetings will now be
on Mondays and Saturdays. Saturdays from 11-2 and Mondays from 6-9.
Directions can be found at the hyperlink many lines above in this email.

The charitable activity that we engage in to sustain our tax-exempt
status is the restoration and renovation of donated computers. Once
restored we give them to other non-profits, schools, churches, and
charitable organizations. We are currently working on computers to give
to Farrington. In addition, we are working on computers that will have
a home in a lab at McKinley Community School.

The computers at McKinley will be availabe for Linux classes. These
computers will also be available for how-to build a computer types of
classes. Furthermore, if it is more accomodating to some of you, we can
work on the restoration of computers at this location. Please take the
time to let me know if you are interested.

Beginning in June we will offer classes at McKinley Community School.
The ones that I will teach will be strictly introductory aimed at a
target audience of those interested in but unfamiliar with Linux. There
is not certification to earn. It is strictly a newbie's type of class
with the intention of reaching out to the curious but intimidated crowd.
We will let them know about other, higher levels of training they can
pursue. It will be taught with Knoppix.

I encourage you to joing us at one of our bi-weekly meetings. I invite
you to join us at our monthly Steering Committee meetings held at the
Stadium Marketplace Pricebusters. Directions are provided at the
volunteer link provided above. I would love for you to assist us as we
help to promote the adoption of Open Source Software islandwide.
