I don't know what you mean by "simple DNS setup guid eother than the ones on 
linuxdocs.org".  DNS can be configured on Linux using the BIND; but, it's 
not that simple, per se, for starters.

However, the "simple" way is this - your IP must be statically (not 
dynamically) set from your ISP.  Then, register a domain name with 
networksolutions.com, or another such group.  When filling out the forms, 
list your ISP's primary and secondary servers, plus your static IP.  The 
cost is about $35 per year to register a domain name.  However, groups like 
networksolutions.com make it hard to find the forms, because they want more 
$$$.

Hence, your domain name will be hosted on your local server, which is 
resolved by your ISP's DNS servers.
