Im IBM certified and Compaq Prolinea certified through CompUSA locally here
and everything Ive heard from both is that there is strong competition to
install their devices in the internet hub on Maui. Many corporations like
Raytheon is backing a deal with Linux/Unix on IBM machines at that location.
Peck was hiring over 230 Linux/Unix people about 6 mths ago ( I applied for
position with them) but over 2000 applicants applied and they only accepted
those who also had Tivoli and Remedy backgrounds and DOD clearances where I
failed to meet those standards. I made my way to an interview with the Vice
President of Peck and local company president for Acameka. Both strongly
encouraged a Linux/Unix background. They didnt care so much for MCSEs. They
were also interested in hardware certs. I was very disappointed that I made
it to the 250 club but didnt make the cut to the 200+ club. But Raytheon is
the biggest backer, it seems to me anyway, for Linux/Unix and Opensource
Security.
