have you tried using sudo?
maybe add something like this to /etc/sudoers
# User alias specification
User_Alias SAMBAUSERS = smb_user1, smb_user2, smb_user3
# Runas alias specification
Runas_Alias OP = root
# Cmnd alias specification
Cmnd_Alias SAMBAMOUNT= /path/to/smbmount
# User privilege specification
root ALL=(ALL) ALL
SAMBAUSERS ALL=SAMBAMOUNT

'man sudo' and 'man sudoers' give much more detail on configuring
sudo. good luck!
