You can split individual xinetd.conf services into files within
/etc/xinetd.d/.  This makes it possible for chkconfig to modify it.

Example:
[warren at riku warren]$ cd /etc/xinetd.d
[warren at riku xinetd.d]$ ls
chargen daytime-udp kotalk services time-udp chargen-udp echo rsync
sgi_fam wu-ftpd daytime echo-udp ktalk servers time
