2 opposite end hardware questions

1.  Is there a good place in Honolulu to pick up used computers/equipment?
I'm looking to buy a cheap test box.

2.  Can anybody point me at a site or listing of compatibility
recommendations for new hardware?  Basically I'm looking for listing of
hardware that is well supported under Linux.  Something that would say that
such and such piece of hardware is well supported under XXX Linux distros.
