3rd party apps which secure MS Windows - such a thing?

I am mostly concerned with protection from intrusion.  But
I see where you are coming from with respect to having
inherent security vulnerabilities by just using Win9x and
FAT filesystems.

So far the responses to my question just confirm my
expectation that there would be no real way to secure my
laptop without changing the OS.
