HP PAVILION SETUP

This sound like a stupid question, but I am still real new to this, what is
the pump package?
Also I had DHCP selected, but for some reason when I would bring up a
browser, it would not reach a site, it would sit and keep thinking. If I do
a ping to say www.hawaii.rr.com, it would not come back with anything.
