rpm verify

This is kinda scary.  If I were you, I probably would've turned the box 
off and performed a complete reinstall by now - I'm not so 
adventuresome.  As things are, perhaps you should print the output of ps 
-ax, reinstall the ps  .rpm, run ps -ax again, and see what's different, 
or rather, what was being hidden.
