Thanks, Warren. I will check it out. But I use the html files to monitor
the log files to make users are getting their mail, see if remote secure
connections are successful, scan apache errors for absent files or
images, that cron jobs are running and of course the list goes on.

Please also try my LUSER program. It is a different type of syslog
monitor
similar to Psionic Logcheck in which the administrator creates rules to
filter messages, then scheduled with cron so e-mail reports are sent to
the
administrators at regular intervals. Just download the tarball and
follow
the directions.

I have only tested this program on Red Hat and Mandrake x86 platforms.
Theoretically it should work fine on BSD and Solaris, but I need someone
who
runs those platforms to give it a try. I don't know of a native Java
SDK
for BSD, so you may have to run one via Linux emulation. Give these a
try.

Dusty's script to create html files from the log files has proved to
save me a lot of time. Instead of logging into the machine and doing the
regular viewing of the scripts, I just use a browser from anywhere to
view the log files. Below is my use of the script in case anyone missed
Dusty's email the first time.
