Maybe your floppy diskette has bad sectors on it.  When you make a disk with
LRP on it, it uses all the sectors on that disk.  It uses 1.77mb on that
floppy, not just 1.44mb.  I would try a new diskette, because this happened
to me.

I tried freesco before, I couldn't get my two 3c509 cards detected.  io and
irq conflicts.
