X desktop problem - help!

Please first try this. Deven's suggestion of chkconfig will only activate
the service to be started automatically, but it does not activate until you
reload the service level or reboot. Alternatively, you can activate it
manually with:
/etc/init.d/xfs start
You can confirm that xfs is running by typing
ps aux |grep xfs
If xfs is displayed (other than "grep xfs"), then xfs is running and should
be working.
Xconfigurator will run a similar configuration process as the installation.
