X desktop problem - help!

Hrm, tried this, no joy --

tailing /var/log/XFree86.0.log gives:

(blah blah..)

Could not init font pat element unix/:-1, removing from list!

Fatal server error:
Could not open default font: 'fixed'



Is there any way to re-start the X configuration that is used during
the install and set it up from the start again?
