TridiaVNC vs TightVNC?

I haven't seen any other open source remote desktop solutions, aside from X
itself but it uses even more bandwidth than raw VNC.  Tight encoding in
TridiaVNC has greater latency, but bandwidth usage stays easily between
5-20KB/sec for most normal usage.  If you bring the screen size to 640x480
with 8bit depth and lowest quality, it is almost usable on a dial-up modem.
