I am not associcated with EDS/Wheatfield in any way, just thought someone may
be interested in the positions available.
The below company is advertising positions for the EDS Navy/ Marine contract:
http://www.wheatintl.com/
There may be other companies hiring for the EDS contract, I really don't know.
Attached is a word (.doc) document that I was emailed. Also below is the text
of the email. The person who sent it said to forward the message along to others.
His email address is at the bottom of the email text below.
Below is the email I got a few months back:
The US Navy and Marine Corps recently awarded a contract to Electronic Data
Systems (EDS) to manage their Information Technologies services on a
world-wide basis. This contract, called Navy Marine Corps Internet (NMCI),
is an extremely large undertaking and EDS has many subcontractors assisting
them in supporting the various aspects of this contract. EDS has contracted
with Wheat International Communications and other small businesses to
supply personnel to man the Network Operations Centers. There will be 6
NOCs located in Norfolk, Quantico, San Diego, Jacksonville, Puget Sound,
and Pearl Harbor. The Pearl Harbor NOC will manage Navy and Marine Corps
assets throughout the Pacific area. Each NOC will be a 24 hour, 7 day a
week operation with about 200 permanent employees. The build out of the
Norfolk and San Diego NOCs has begun and EDS plans to have them fully
functioning in May, 2001. The Hawaii NOC will not be required to be
operational until near the end of this year. The positions available
include User administrators, e-mail administrators, Windows NT system
administrators, UNIX system administrators, remote fault management
personnel, back up and restore personnel, Aspect/Tivoli/Remedy experts, and
electronic software distribution personnel. Prospective employees must be a
US citizen and qualify for a Secret clearance. We are now reviewing resumes
for potential personnel to fill positions in Hawaii. We expect EDS to begin
actual hiring for positions in Hawaii in 5-6 months. These positions will
be permanent positions with our company and include full benefits.
If you qualify and are interested in a full-time permanent position at the
Hawaii NOC, we request you complete the attached screening questionnaire
and return it to me. This will help us obtain additional information
critical to our decision about extending an offer for you fill a specific
position. After we review your returned questionnaire, we will contact you
with further information. We realize that you cannot commit to a job that
won't be available for several months, but when EDS asks us for candidates
to fill the Hawaii NOC, we want to be as ready as possible to submit
resumes for all personnel in our files who are still interested in these
jobs. When we get the call for names for staffing the Hawaii NOC, we will
contact you to see if your qualifications have changed (i.e. new
certifications) and if you still want a position in the NOC.
When you return the questionnaire, can you also send us a soft copy of your
current resume so we can use it upload data into our personnel data base.
Thank You,
