If you log into KDE as root, there is a K-control-panel Icon on the
desktop. Within the K-control-panel window there is a Services Icon. The
Services Icon launches a terminal based program to select services to
run. Within the K-control-panel window there is also a wu-ftp Icon that
launches a GUI for setting up wu-ftp. You want may to search out a more
secure ftp program other than wu-ftp but it does have a decent GUI for
setup. Within the KDE System menu there are the firewall programs for
modifying your firewall selections.
