If you couldnt install Staroffice Ken ( ABOVE) MAY BE  on
the right track. I had the same root fiasco before I made
the root larger on one install. MAny of the new installers
like Caldera and Maybe Mandrake use one huge partition for
everything . If you have made a small seperate root
partition like recommended in the past that can cause the
error you have received.
