Hi Julio,

   Several of the ESS chips require the commercial sound drivers from 
OpenSound.  For example, my Dell Laptop uses the ESS Maestro 3, and the 
usual configuration stuff didn't work.  I bought the OSS drivers for $30 at

The installation is surprisingly easy.
