Do as the other guy said and check out imwheel.  It probably doesn't come
with RedHat 6, so do a search on freshmeat and pick it up.  It's pretty
much the de-facto standard for that sort of thing.  Just install the rpm
and put something like

imwheel&

before the windowmanager command in your ~/.xinitrc
