[LUAU] CD backup w/dump

I've been playing with the dump/restore package and it's pretty cool.  I
need to do offsite backups for someone's linux box, and up until now i was
doing a tar.gz of the system written to an ext2 fs on a CD.  Obviously
this isn't the best method.  Has anyone tried using dump to dump a fs to
CD instead of tape?  Or if not, what type of tape drives are generally
accepted by linux?  I have a DittoMax 7gb parallel but i'm sure those are
too proprietary to use with linux...?
