<BR>> <BR>> The topics will be:<BR>> <BR>> The New UH Cinematic
& Digital Arts program<BR>> by Chris Lee<BR>> <BR>> Chris Lee was
the former President of Production for TriStar Pictures and<BR>> Columbia
Pictures. He worked on Academy Award-winning films such as "Jerry<BR>>
Maguire," "Philadelphia" and "As Good as it Gets." Lee has also worked
on<BR>> films such as "My Best Friend's Wedding," "The Mask of Zorro" and
"The<BR>> Patriot." In addition, Lee also produced the computer animated
movie "Final<BR>> Fantasy," which was being created in Hawai'i for five
years.<BR>> <BR>> and<BR>> <BR>> The Making of ``Final Fantasy: The
Spirits Within''<BR>> by Kaveh Kardan<BR>> <BR>> Five years in the
making, this movie was the first feature length project<BR>> to attempt to
achieve a photorealistic look and create realistic human<BR>> characters. The
presentation will cover the technical and production<BR>> challenges
encountered over the course of the project. Kaveh Kardan<BR>> graduated
from MIT with a B.Sc. in Mathematics in 1985, and has been a<BR>> software
developer in the computer graphics industry ever since, having<BR>> worked at
NeoVisuals, Softimage, and Systeme Taarna. He was Manager of<BR>> Software
R&D at SquareUSA (Honolulu) from 1997 to 2002 during the making of<BR>>
the computer animated movie "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within".<BR>>
