I don't think it is a new vulnerability. We knew about UDP (-sU) and TCP SYN (-sS) scans causing problems on several *nix and windows systems, and the OS detect (-O) also causes problems, but we have had standard TCP (-sT) scans bring down AIX and SCO systems. I had a problem with AIX 3.1 (I think) earlier this year. When I get more information I will send it, but I just wanted to let people know that NMAP can cause problems and to be careful.
