I think the problem with Linux is that there is so much available.  Someone should start the OpenDocumentFormat project.  Something that defines a robust standard document format for word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, etc.  That way all word processors could (would) use those formats instead of their own proprietary formats.  Has anyone heard of such a project.
