For anyone who wants to run KDE on their favorite solaris system, but have had a nightmare (at least I did) trying to compile it. check out: ftp://ftp.patriots.net/pub/solaris_packages/ You will need to download, gunzip, and install (with pkgadd -d pkgname.pkg) the following packages for your architecture and solaris version (I recommend using these packages from patriots.net and not the ones from sunfreeware.com to make sure everything works): KDE-2.1.1-1 QT version 2.3.0 with GIF & JPEG support Python object-oriented language version 2.0 Independent JPEG Group's software version 6b The Z(compressation) Library version 1.1.3 The PNG Library version 1.0.8 The GCC compilers version 2.95.2 The OpenSSL version 0.9.6 --------------------------------------- For those not willing to install all the above packages check Extra-Libs-For-KDE-2.1.1.tar.gz. It can be untared under {KDEHOME}/lib or /usr/local/lib or where you have your LD_LIBRARY_PATH pointed to.
