Anyone, I am trying to install Mandrake 8 on my new harddrive. I have an 80GB western digital ata100 drive connected to a promise ultra66 pci controler. Durring boot, linux sees the controler and properly detects the drive. Wehn I get to the point of the install to configure the partitions everything goes fine. I have access to the entire disk and can create and format partitions. When I go past that point I get an error unable to mount: device not found (or somehting like that). I have seen that a couple other people are having this problem. Some sugested telling the kernel where to find the hdd (ie ide2=0x9400,9704), which didn't work. Someone else said that western digital drives on promise controllers just don't work under linux. I have the same config working in WIN and the kernel sees everything just fine. I am thinking I might have to connect the drive to my motherboard IDE and install the western digital software so my system can use the enitre 80GB (it is an old PPro 200), but I really don't want to do that. Any ideas??? Dusty
