Awesome!!!!! Sandi and I have been working on getting our Sony TRV-120 (Digital 8) camcorder to work under Linux. Haven't gotten it to work yet. Linux recognises my Firewire card and my camcorder, but I get an error when I try to capture DV. We keep getting this error: "raw1394 - couldn't get card info: Invalid argument". Anyone have an idea what this means? I don't know what Firewire card I have (it came with BeOS and captures fine with our camera on BeOS). Linux seems to recognize it: Jul 15 14:30:07 mdk kernel: ieee1394: registered ohci1394 driver, initializing now Jul 15 14:30:07 mdk kernel: ohci1394: looking for Ohci1394 cards Jul 15 14:30:07 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: remapped memory spaces reg 0xd0b20000 Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: allocated interrupt 9 Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: soft reset finished Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: max packet size = 2048 bytes Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: 4 iso receive contexts available Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: 8 iso transmit contexts available Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: Receive DMA ctx=0 initialized Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: Receive DMA ctx=1 initialized Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: AT dma ctx=0 initialized Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: AT dma ctx=1 initialized Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: Receive DMA ctx=2 initialized Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: resetting bus on request Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ieee1394: detected 1 ohci1394 adapter Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: PhyControl: 0000017F Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: SelfID process finished (phyid 0, not root) Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: selfid packet 0x807f845a rcvd Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: This node self-id is 0x807f845a Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: selfid packet 0x817f08c0 rcvd Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: calling self-id complete Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ieee1394: GUID request sent to node 1 Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: Got phy packet ctx=0 ... discarded Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: Bus reset Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: PhyControl: 0000017F Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: SelfID process finished (phyid 0, not root) Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: selfid packet 0x806c8458 rcvd Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: This node self-id is 0x806c8458 Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: selfid packet 0x816c08c2 rcvd Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: calling self-id complete Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ieee1394: GUID request sent to node 1 Jul 15 14:30:08 mdk kernel: ohci1394_0: Got phy packet ctx=0 ... discarded Jul 15 14:31:45 mdk kernel: raw1394: /dev/raw1394 device initialized I have found several people with the same error in dvgrab, but no one has given a solution. What Firewire board do you have? Maybe I should get a new board and try that. Dusty ---------------------------------------------------- > Linux Users!!, > > Check it out!!
