The benefit of seeing an entire page of code is orthogonal to the size of
the screen.  I've read code that is 5 pages long on a GUI (with the IDE
maximized).  There are benefits of 80 column limits beyond that of vt100
terminals.  Viewing source code side-by-side, for one.
