Martin and Bill will help you understand their favorite subject: copyright law as it applies to entertainment media - in particular, to music, movies and live performances. The class will focus on practice in this area, and practical ways to enhance copyright protection in these media; delineating rights in collective works; derivative use of works; fair use; remedies for infringement, licensing considerations; and more.

George and Matt will give you insight into copyright law as it applies to digital media such as computer programming and the Internet. The class will explore the inherent problems of applying 19th century legal principles to 21st century technologies; the relationship between copyright law, patent law and trade secret law; the unique problems of expanding traditionally protected works to works on the Internet; vicarious liability; the digital Millennium Copyright act; fair use; licensing; and more.
