Hi everybody,
I'm now looking for a good database benchmarking tool to test out performance of different databases
under Linux (several variants). Any idea of a good one out there?
Thanks. This list is awesome!

I own some minority interests in a company that specializes in making
PostgreSQL/PHP packages for POS operations (their major client is China
Petroleum, a Fortune 1000 company). They will be migrating to either
RHEL3 or a special version of Mandrake 9.2 on Opteron, with at least 8
GB of RAM. When you can run your database entirely on the RAM,
essentially all the conventional benchmarkings become irrelevant.
Warrent is correct. For the short run, there is probably not too much
difference b/t AMD64 and Xeon. But for the long run, it is a no
brainer to go with AMD64. This, IMO, is particularly true for running
database applications. wayne
