[luau] shell script question

I'm trying to write a shell script that would open up
a gnome terminal and have that gnome terminal execute
something (that something being ssh into another
machine).

I think it would have to look something like:

gnome-terminal "ssh lr at anothermachine"

and have been trying variations on this theme, but
haven't gotten anywhere, and don't really know the
vocabulary for expressing what I'm trying to do.

Sould somebody throw me a bone?
