Having separate filesystems for root, home, usr, and var is good.I am
surprised that root is so big and so full. I'm not too happy with the way
I did my Mandrake on my VAIO (long story); I ended up with a lot of unused
space in root, a big var and no home, so my /home is just a directory in
var. Ugly, but it works. Anyway, here is my df output:
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda6 357800 43720 295607 13% /
none 63320 0 63320 0% /dev/shm
/dev/hda1 8273316 4280360 3992956 52% /mnt/win_c
/dev/hda5 513024 128668 384356 26% /mnt/win_d
/dev/hda8 1604932 1419148 104256 94% /usr
/dev/hda9 719420 636340 46536 94% /var
Notice that my root is about 350M and only 13% full. Do you have a lot of
junk in /tmp?
