[luau] text archiving & searching

Hello fellas,

Do you guys know of any open source(or cheap closed source) programs that
will let you archive text, perhaps even link to external files in the OS.
Add user definable metadata to this text and then be able to search on this
metadata & the text?

So for example the text could be some code that I write
1> The project the code is for
2> creator of code
3> date code was last modified etc.
4> Description of code

Then later I could search for all the code that I have written for a
particular project, or do a search to pull up all code instances that I have
used the function "instring" in & so forth

Another example could be an ad for a product & the metadata would be
1> Product for which the ad is published
2> Medium in which ad was published
3> Date

& so on

so later I can search for the text of the ad or all the ads by product & so
on.

The closest program that I have found that might be able to do this is
SilvaMetadata(offshoot of Zope/Plone), though it is not exactly meant for
such a purpose & I haven't been able to get it to work yet.

Any suggestions or pointers in right direction are very much appreciated.
There are very expensive Digital asset management programs that do this,
looking for cheap(as in $)/free(as in $ & code) programs...

Mahalo,
Vikram
