[luau] Apache...again

Hiya,

Check your httpd.conf file. It should be set in there. Do a search for the
keyword "UserDir" and that should get you in the zone.

Normally you'd get to it by going to:

http://www.yourdomain.com/~username

Where 'yourdomain' is your domain name, and 'username' is your username on
your server.

The ~ in front of your username is what Apache will pick up and redirect
to your "public_html" directory. It should automagically look for an
index.html (or index.htm) file by default.

Can't help you on the mail thing...I use sendmail, only because it's all
I've ever used.

It really depends on what you are installing, most system stuff will in
general require you to be root. Read the DOCs that come with whatever you
are installing to confirm whether you need to be root.

IMHO, In general you'll get much further on installs if you read the
install docs first, search the web for relevant info, then post to groups
with your questions if you are still stuck. You'll occasionally hit some
stumpers, but most times this works for me. Folks appreciate it if you
provide some detail on your problem, and indicate what resources you've
checked to try and resolve it.

Hope that helps....
Sharky
