In an attempt to entice more computer contributions, we are going to create a
non-profit corporation. Heretofore things have been donated to the
Mid-Pacific Institute. While this has been an effective work-around, it is
not the long term solution we need.

Wayne, an attorney on the list, has suggested that the name be long enough to
encompass a sense of the group's intentions. He advised against an acronym.
I am suggesting any one of the following names. Please rearrange them and
suggest a combination that you like. Please suggest a new name. Please
ignore the whole thing if you choose. :-)

Hawai`i Open Source Education Initiative
Foundation For Hawaiian Open Sourced Schools
Hawai`ian Institute for Open Sourced Education
Open Source Technology for Hawai`ian Schools Foundation
Hawai`ian Gnu/Linux Educational Organization
Hawai`ian Institute of Openly Sourced Education Technology
Technological Inititative for Open Source Hawai`ian Schools
Schools Growing with Open Source Technology
Hawai`ian Education Foundation for Open Source Integration
Open Source Computing Organization for Hawai`ian Schools

For those of you unfamiliar with this endeavor, it is an attempt to utilize
hardware generally considered "obsolete" in the academic environment. Luau
members have interest in this because a linux based project, the LTSP,
lstp.org, and in particular its education branch, k12ltsp.org, use this
hardware as thin clients. For very little cost, entire labs can be
constructed.

Warren Togami has been instrumental (as well as others) in implementing this
solution in several places. The Mid-Pacific Institute has one such lab, and
it is being expanded. If you want to be involved in any way, let it be known.
