[luau] Hawaii Schools Customer Satisfaction Survey

I thought this may be of interest to some of the folks at[luau]so im passing
it along.  This is a survey initiated by the Commander-in-Chief (CINCPAC)to
"measure the perceptions regarding our military dependent children's
education in Hawaii.". There are four surveys, and a comments page.  I
thought this could be a good place for people to bring up the M$ -vs- open
source/free software decision.  Im a single guy so im not an authority here,
but im pretty sure Hawaii didn't see allot of money for the schools this
year.  There are plenty of schools around the world setting precedents for
open source software every day.  If there is ever a need for volunteers I am
positive I can round up a herd of Airman.  The USAF encourages
charity/volunteer work and they even have a Volunteer Medal for incentive.
I was an Airman not so long ago and not only was I allowed time off to set
up computers for local schools and the Make a Wish Foundation, but I was
rewarded regularly for it.  Just something to remember if volunteers become
hard to find...

James - Pls ensure the Kukini staff are on this and run an initial article
to publicize along with follow up reminders of the availability of the
survey for the next week or two.  Also recommend Chief Gill share this via
his email connections and first sergeants.  

The quality of public school education has been and is a major topic of
discussion with parents and point of concern for families PCSing onto the
island.  This is the first formal feedback opportunity for all concerned
parents to ensure their views and opinions are heard/seen by Admiral
Fargo....don't want to see this opportunity go to waste.  

Pls turn the info below into a forwardable note.

Hi. The Hawaii Schools Customer Satisfaction Survey is up and running at
www.hawaii-survey.com .  The survey was directed by USCINCPAC.  A cover
letter at the site explains the motivation behind the survey.  There is
space on the survey for comments, too.

Hopefully you will see something come down officially--and soon.  The survey
is scheduled through May 31.  The survey includes parents of public school,
private school and homeschooled students.   Students grades 5-12 also have a
survey to fill out.  

Please help me get the word out.  Again, this should come through official
channels (and there are articles scheduled for the Kukini), but the more
word-of-mouth the better.
