I used a java script on this page
http://www.ferrariadventures.com/exotics.html so that when you
mouse-over the F355 image a different image appears, disabling a right
click save. A person could view the source and then find what the
original image is called and go directly to it. I guess that is where
the deny referral from outside would come into play. As for the screen
capture and edit technique I have seen a java script that uses a
spotlight to only highlight portions of the image so that you can only
sample it. Feel free to use the swap image script.

A recent issue of 2600 pretty well covered this issue- how to do the
javascript, how to circumvent, and general limitations of the protect
and
access tehcniques. Go to Borders and see if it's still on the shelves.

I have seen java scripts that disable the right mouse button so you can
select "save picture as" but there are ways around that; but it does
discourage the novice to intermediate web browser.
I would be surprised if you could stop someone from getting a picture
they
really really wanted it. If a web browser can render the pic, they can
use
scripts to accept the headers & respond appropriately and save each
image
the HTML code references. Worst case you could do a screen capture and
spend 30 minutes cleaning it up in photoshop, err I mean gimp! (Mr.
Dvorak
